The Parry Sound Muskoka Federal Liberal Riding Association is proud to have sent three girls from the riding for an all-expenses paid trip to Ottawa for a young woman’s political leadership program called Camp Parliament For Girls.
A non-partisan program to educate and engage young women in politics, Camp Parliament for Girls took place in Ottawa in late April. Muskoka teens Salina Nichols, Rama Malem, and Joanna Cook were accompanied by chaperone Trisha Cowie, and another participant, Shay Kadonoff.
Together the girls toured our capital city, formed new friendships, and learned about the government and the political process.
“It was so wonderful to see the girls bond and have the opportunity to act as a Member of Parliament for a day,” recalls Trisha Cowie. “I think each of them took something away from the trip, but most importantly they understand the importance of being involved in politics and why their voices as women and as youth matter.”
